Qualifications & Experience

Mr James O. Smith BM BSc DM FRCS (Tr&Orth) is an Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon with dual-Fellowship subspecialty training in reconstructive knee and hip surgery.

He graduated from Southampton University School of Medicine before undertaking Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training within the Wessex region. Upon completion of training, he was selected for the BASK (British Association of Knee Surgery) Fellowship in Bournemouth and then the Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Trauma Surgery Fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand.

Up to date and Evidence-Based

Mr Smith works as an NHS Consultant in Orthopaedics & Trauma Surgery at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and privately at the Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester.

He maintains an active and ongoing medical research interest, staying current with new diagnostics and treatments offered.

He has published many papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and regularly speaks at Orthopaedic conferences and events.
